Audit NC Closure: Build an Evidence Trail

Reviewed 27 October 2026 · NavSure Maritime Consultancy

A practical method to connect findings, corrective actions and evidence.

Record the finding precisely

Start with the actual inspection finding and its cited requirement. Keep the finding number, responsible person and agreed target date together. Avoid changing the wording in a way that hides the original concern.

Separate correction from prevention

Fix the specific issue, then examine why it occurred. For example, replacing one outdated document addresses that file; assigning document ownership and a review cycle may help prevent a repeat. The appropriate action depends on the finding and the company’s operation. This is a suggested management method, not an authority-issued closure procedure.

Make evidence easy to verify

Link each response to a dated record, revised procedure, training acknowledgement or other relevant evidence. Check that the evidence demonstrates the action rather than merely promising it. Review the response internally before submission and retain the final set. The inspecting authority decides whether the response is sufficient and whether further action is required; NavSure does not guarantee NC acceptance or closure.
